A Summer Picnic

Weather like this is perfect for a visit to Moonlight cinemas where you can enjoy the cool summer breeze while watching a movie with your gal pals. Think cheese, dips, fruit and of course wine - but don't forget about your own essentials like sunscreen, repellent, lip balm, tissues etc.

A Manikinn Sale!

Stylish loose dresses that can be thrown on casually and can be dressed up with the right accessories/ shoes are a must have in the wardrobe at the moment. Too sticky to wear anything else in this heat. Good news fashionistas - Australian women's label Manikinn.com has a 50% off all stock sale - and it ends in just under 12 hours!! Enter 50xmas at checkout.

Hope I don't sound like a sales person (those retail days are long over :) but with an offer like 50% off it would be silly not to check this Aussie fashion online store out!

Loving some of their free-spirted animal prints, Parisian inspired tees, and lots of comfie chic tops. Ideal fashion label if you are a big lover of loose Tees!

Copy This & That

Mama wears French Connection Bomb Cotton Ruffle Shirt. Bubba wears new Alex and Ant white summer set featuring top and bloomers. Love the ruffle detailed sleeves!

Metallic Purses

These metallic animal clutch/purses are wicked cool by tsurubride. Pretty unique and make super cool gifts :D

Love the story behind the name: In the old Japanese tale The Crane Wife, a poor sail-maker finds an injured crane on his doorstep with an arrow through its wing. The man takes the crane in and nurses it back to health. After he releases the crane, a woman appears at his doorstep with whom he falls in love and marries. Because they need money, his wife offers to weave a wondrous sail that they can sell at the market, but only if he agrees never to watch her make it and never have her create another one. The sail sells for a tidy profit and they live comfortably. But the man gets greedy and gets his wife to weave another sail, which she does – again making him promise that this will be the last and that he will not watch her weave it. This sail is even more beautiful then the last, and sells for even more. But again, the man gets greedy and haves her make one more. As the previous times she makes him promise that this will be the last and that he will not watch her weave it. The man is too curious though and he eventually peeks in to see what she is doing and is shocked to discover that at the loom is a crane weaving the wind from her wings into the sails. The crane, seeing him, flies away and never returns.

Extra Seed - Eco Shoes

Eco-friendly shoes doesn't have to mean weird hemp shoes or Birkenstocks. So it was great joy when Zerihun contacted me about their new Etsy store called Extra Seed (clever lovely name eh?). I adore the eco-friendly leather flats - looks very chic and comfortable to wear.

These shoes are a creative solution to recycling spare fabrics and materials. The soles are made from recycled car tyre tube. How cool is that?

I hope this trend of choosing socially conscious and organic fashion wear continues to grow real big - that is why I love reading Peppermint Magazine, Growing Up Green & Petite Eco Kids.

Luxury Kiddies in Lillybee

New to Chic Mother & Baby store is the Lillybee range from the U.S.A. The range is luxe cause its a cotton & cashmere blend and pretty stripes but at an affordable price! Super soft quality cotton and cashmere makes you wish these came in adult sizes (I do!) especially the pink and navy cardi.

What caught my eye from Black Eyed Green are these eco-friendly green hangers. As such, every lillybee purchase comes with a bonus eco-friendly cardboard hanger to hang your new Lillybee knit.

Yoga in Style

Tomorrow I am taking the plunge and trying YOGA for the first time. I am extremely nervous and still hesitant to go for several reasons:
  1. I am not the physical exercise type of person, the only form of exercise I enjoy is shopping.
  2. I do NOT like th1ose big mirrors that have everyone staring at each other as if I am not self-conscious enough.
  3. I will feel like a total retard trying all different poses (I did some visual research), and pretty sure I will suck at all of them. Forget any balancing acts!
  4. I hate walking into the gym (in the past and as I was walking by this weekend), there are always the younger buff boys in their done up cars that seem more there "to be seen" then to really work out and focus on their body/health. Again makes me really self-conscious. Just that this gym is a convenient 5 min walk away from my place.
Having said all of that, I am looking forward to trying something new, feeling better and hopefully get better sleep without relying on prescription pills.

So after a quick search for a good yoga mat (prices range from $15 at BigW, mid-range $50 at Rebel and then there is luxury brand prices), I found that you can really do yoga in style if you were overseas (the range is heaps better!) But really a pair of black leggings or bonds fit pants and a tee will do.

1. Orla Kiely Yoga Bag 2. Stella McCartney for Adidas Yoga Mat Set 3. Three-Quarter Knit Pants by Stella McCartney 4. "I love Down Dog Tee" from Revolve Clothing" 5. Earthlust Bottle 6. Adidas HipHop Shoes 7. Nike Yellow Yoga Mat.

Satyana Celebrity Style

I love Alyson Hannigan from popular TV series How I Met Your Mother. Her character Lily is fantastic (plus always wearing fashion pieces from Anthropologie). We love her (she's always smiling in paparazzi photos) and her bub Satyana's casual spring chic style.

Vivienne Westwood + Melissa Shoes

The pair team up to create Mini Melissa's chic designer, eco-friendly shoes. These too-cute-to-wear shoes are made with Melissa’s signature Melflex plastic and Vivienne Westwood's famous design, a form of PVCthat is non-toxic, breathable, and recyclable. Long Weekend Style

This weekend Kristy & I was in the most comfortable & warm casual outfits - grocery shopping, lounging around, running around with the kids and baking THAT cake.

What's your casual weekend style like?

Kristy was very Reese Witherspoon like wearing grey wool turtleneck by Country Road + denim jeans + converse. I was wearing my latest Bonds Boyfit pants + adidas hoodie + black boots. I just wanted to be super warm!

For more women's fashion style check out Style Milk - Jen and her fans share what they are wearing each week.

World's most stylish bunny...

fifi lapin

I LOVE FIFI LAPIN. She is the most chic fashionista whose fashion adventure I follow via her blog.

You'll find her dressed in the most recent couture, right off the fashion runway like Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, Zac Posen, Louis Vuttion and even my favourite brand Marc Jacobs.

This famous bunny fashionista is on Lesportsac bags and cool tees from Forever 21. I want anything with Fifi Lapin - she's just too gorgeous!

I heart Jack Spade

How brilliant is this changing mat! Sometimes an Angel, sometimes a Devil, its different everyday, every hour and every minute.

This one is for the men of the house. Jack Spade is noted for their range of practical, sturdy and stylish men messenger's bag (alternatively a diaper bag - nappies and laptop can fit :).

I think I have seen some of Jack Spade's bags at Incu, Paddington or I wonder if its in DJs?

Bonds Back Baby...

How comfy and warm does the new Bonds winter range look (I lovvvve my Bonds). The range is available at DJs, Myer - but cheapest at Kmart. It is a little expensive for fleece, but the quality and fit for this Bonds range is superb. I just bought the Boyfit pants for $49 compared to the RRP $54.95 as advertised in their catalogue. My justification (not that shopping can really be justified) is that I am going to live in them!

Project Brown Cardigan

Isn't always the case that when you are looking for something, you'll never find it but when your not its everywhere?! This is the case for Miss Kristy (mother of 2 little ones with little time to search and shop) who has been looking for 'the' brown cardigan to go with her new spunky brown boots. I have searched high and low for them Witchery, Country Road, Esprit, Sportscraft, Saba, Kookai, David Laurence, Jag, Dejcuba, Cooper St, Wish, Seduce, Oxford, Marcs, Cue and even our beloved Shopbop (have I missed anything?) There is cream, black, purple, grey, coral, pink and navy but no brown this season! Searching online for brown taupe, chocolate, mocha and even mushroom but no magical results.

If you have spotted a nice brown cardigan - leave a message!
